Police chief wants 60,000 CCTV cameras in Bangkok | Bangkok Post: news

Bangkok has plenty of CCTV cameras, but the Erawan shrine bombings revealed that many of them are either not working or produce poor-quality pictures. (Bangkok Post file photo)Bangkok needs about 60,000 working CCTV cameras in place to help prevent crime and catch criminals, as in other big cities of the world, according to national police chief Chakthip Chaijinda. Pol Gen Chakthip said surveillance cameras have played a crucial role in crime suppression and increasing public safety. Big cities in countries such as Britain and France have about 60,000 CCTV cameras installed.
